Idris Goodwin (Playwright) Across two decades Idris Goodwin has forged a multi-faceted career as an award-winning playwright, break-beat poet, director, educator, and organizer. His critically acclaimed plays like And In This Corner Cassius Clay, How We Got On, and Hype Man: A Break Beat Play are widely produced across the country at professional theatres, college campuses, and non-traditional spaces alike. He's been honored to receive developmental support from institutions like The Kennedy Center, The Eugene O'Neill Conference, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Arena Stage, and The Playwrights’ Center. In addition to the recently released poetry collection Can I Kick It?, he’s had several publications from Haymarket Books including Inauguration co-written with Nico Wilkinson, Human Highlight: Ode To Dominique Wilkins, and the play This Is Modern Art co-written with Kevin Coval. He’s appeared on HBO Def Poetry, Sesame Street, NPR, BBC Radio, and the Discovery Channel. Passionate about cultivating new audiences in the arts, Goodwin served two seasons as Producing Artistic Director at StageOne Family Theatre in Louisville, Kentucky. He actively serves on both the advisory boards of Theatre for Young Audiences USA and Children's Theatre Foundation Association. Idris is the newly appointed Director of The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College, where he taught in the department of Theatre and Dance and was voted Teacher of the Year in 2015. A catalyst for culture, Goodwin uses his full creative powers to galvanize people to the community square. He is a creative voice for change, impassioned by art for social good.
Delicia Turner Sonnenberg (Director) is a founder and the former Artistic Director of MOXIE Theatre, which she helmed for 12 acclaimed seasons receiving The Des McAnuff New Visions Award for “Risk Taking Leadership and Body of Work” and “2015 Director of the Year” from the San Diego Theatre Critics Circle. She has also directed plays for Actors Theatre of Louisville Humana Festival, San Diego REP, The Old Globe Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Cygnet Theatre, New Village Arts, Diversionary Theatre, and Mo'olelo Performing Arts Company. Some honors include: Theatre Communications Group's New Generations Program, San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Awards, Women's International Living Legacy Award, Van Lier Fund Fellowship (Second Stage Theatre), and the New York Drama League's Directors Project.
Lorene Chesley (1) A native of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, Lorene grew up studying ballet and tap, but quickly segued her love for performance into acting. She loves Arena Stage and has been blessed to work on Smart People (Valerie Johnston) as well as The Heiress (Marian Almond). Additional stage credits include: The Flame/Ms. Caliente in The Villians' Supper Club (Merrimack Repertory Theatre), and Cassandra and Delilah in Memphis (La Jolla Playhouse). TV credits include: Perception (TNT), Shameless (Showtime), and The Fosters (Freeform). Lorene also released her first book The Perfectly Imperfect Christian (Amazon.com), praise! She studied theater at Temple University and earned an MFA in acting at UCSD. Lorene would like to thank God for her many blessings and her family and friends for their continual love and support!
Tonye Patano (2) has garnered accolades on stage and screen, most notably as Heylia James on Showtime’s Weeds. Tosin Olufolabi (Sound Design) is a sound designer, devisor and performer. Her most notable sound designs include Head Over Heels (Monumental Theatre Co.); Lovers’ Vows (We Happy Few); My Barking Dog (Edge of the Universe Players 2); School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play (Round House Theatre); Ties That Bind, Caucasian Chalk Circle and Antigone (Catholic University); Gloria (Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company); God is Dead and April is Getting Married (Three Muses); Peepshow (dog & pony dc); Abortion Road Trip and Soldier Poet (Theatre Prometheus); Lela & Co.
