A bilingual, virtual festival featuring newly-commissioned short plays by twenty celebrated American and Russian playwrights, including Ekaterina Avgustenyak, Nina Belenitskaya, Polina Borodina, Deborah Brevoort, Kia Corthron, Mikhail Durnenkov, Christine Evans, Idris Goodwin, Nikolay Kolyada, Jacqueline E. Lawton, Craig Lucas, Eduardo Machado, Marina Orgeva, Mary Kathryn Nagle, Svetlana Petriyuchuk, Yaroslava Pulinovich, Aleksey Sinyaev, Heather Raffo, Lauren Yee and Olzhas Zhanaydarov.
Produced by the Forum for Cultural Engagement, in coordination with Arena Stage, Georgetown University, the Lubimovka Young Russian Playwrights Festival, and the Center for Modern Drama in Yekaterinburg, FLASH ACTS has been brought to life by more than 150 leading American and Russian playwrights, actors, directors, and designers. At a time when the United States and Russia are in the spotlight, FLASH ACTS reminds us that artists have a unique ability to inspire, challenge, and bridge cultural divides.
